Kratom contains several psychogenic alkaloids. Only mitragynine, 7-hydroxymitragynine, speciociliatine, and corynantheidine are currently known to be pharmacologically active. Mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine function as partial agonists at the μ-opioid receptors and antagonists at the δ-opioid receptors.
